About ISLAND GYAL CATERING

The Caribbean is known for its amazing food and rich spices, making it one of the most traveled destinations in the world. Island Gyal catering captures the taste that makes these unique Caribbean dishes famous.    

Born in the Caribbean on the island of St. Vincent, Hazel Hemphill (owner) began learning to cook from a young age. Eventually this island girl (pronounced regionally as gyal or pheonetically "Gill") migrated to Trinidad and Tobago where she acquired her culinary education and mastery of the regional cuisine before moving to Eugene, Oregon in 2000.     

With 35 years cultinary experience including several years at the award winning local restaurants "Ring of Fire" and "Lucky Noodle", she decided to share her talent, receipes and love for cooking with others.

Now, Hazel offers Island Gyal Catering and  amazing tasting traditional American, comfort Soul food and authentic Caribbean cuisine, catering for events large and small: Weddings, Birthdays, Corporate Parties, Reunions  and other Special Events.
